BOOK REVIEW “NATRANG”

Author: Anand Yadav
Genre: Fiction
Language: Marathi
Pages: 190
Cost: 140 Rs.
Publisher: Mehta Publishing House
First Published: October 1980
“NATRANG” authored by Anand Yadav was published in 1980 but the story of ‘Guna’ protagonist in “NATRANG” came into limelight only after when movie based on the book released in 2010. There is hardly any Marathi speaking person who has not seen this movie or do not know about the movie. It was very good movie, excellent direction and acting performances. The music of movie was loved by people of all ages. It won every award that year. But I think music overpowered the story of the film a bit. So I decided to get hold of the book and read it.
Book is worth reading even after you had seen the movie. Movies are much larger and lot easier medium to tell a story or portray someone. But in a novel, only accessory to tell a story is words. And Anand Yadav did amazing job. He created “Guna” who felt like a real person and we could feel his pain and anguish. We could explore “Guna’s” world without any visual assistance. You could easily visualize it yourself. So I like to read the story more than watching movie.
It is a Must Read Book. If I have to rate this book I will give it 9 out of 10.

Thanks a lot. I would like to ask if this book is based on a true story or is a fiction?
