“The Murder on the Links” is another detective fiction by Agatha Christie. It is as good as any of her work and must read for every Agatha Christie fans, even if you are not fan of her work you will surely enjoy this book. No one writes Mystery detective novels better than her.

Anyone who is familiar with Agatha Christie will be aware of her famous detective character Hercule Poirot. In this book, one day Poirot is visited by his friend Captain Hastings eager to tell him about a woman with whom he has fallen in love on the train from Paris. Meanwhile Poirot finds an extraordinary letter in his mails which came from France, requesting him to come immediately.  But when they reach France following the letter he finds the man who wrote him a letter Mr. Renauld is already dead. Poirot did not come on time to save the man; but now he takes it upon himself to unravel the mystery surrounding the death and find the responsible person.

As I said earlier no one is better in handling the mystery than Agatha Christie. She had put together this one so brilliantly that I enjoyed every page, every word of the novel and I was really eager to get through the pages as soon as possible. I could not keep the book down before finishing it. I am sure you will have the same experience. It is a Must Read Book. If I have to rate this book I will give it 10 out of 10.

The Beauty of These Present Things is a first novel from Avtar Singh. Novel is portrayal of young aspiring writer’s life in contemporary Mumbai. The book is sarcasm which is enduring quality of aspiring Indian youngsters.

An editor in a publishing firm Katie try to track down aspiring young writer Arjun because she has some time in her hand on her visit to Mumbai. Arjun had sent her some short stories and she sensed promise in him so she decides to meet him. In the process of tracking down Arjun she meets some people who are Arjun’s friends or he knows them. And she surprised to know that Arjun had used all these people as characters in the short stories he sent her. His stories were based on these people lives and characters weren’t fictional but real and interacting with her. So she $is increasingly drawn into Arjun’s world. She finds him more and more interesting, and eager to meet him. Meanwhile, Arjun, unaware that Katie is looking for him, pursues his daily routine. As usual he is working as a real-estate agent.

This is the story of just one day —19 May 1999. Filling 239 pages exploring just one day is amazing. Book is simple and free flowing; it is neither idealistic nor cynic. If I have to rate this book I will give it 6 out of 10.

Delhi: A Novel is a historical novel by very honorable Indian writer Khushwant Singh. He is best known for his trenchant secularism, his humor, and an abiding love of poetry. He has been honored by Indian Government with ‘Padmbhushan’ and ‘Padmvibhushan’ awards.

We all know Delhi is historically very rich city. It has many layers of history lying there. Khushwant Singh unfolds all of it in this book. He covered almost all the measure historical events in the history of Delhi. But this is not plain history catalogue of Delhi, as the title of book suggests it is a novel. Khushwant Singh added his sarcasm, his specialty humor and also eroticism in the book. This book is sort of time travel, it moves backwards and forwards in time through the history of Delhi. It has sort of written in autobiographical way. It has as its backdrop the story of a journalist fallen on bad times and his relationship with a hijra (eunuch) named Bhagmati.

In this book Delhi’s History unfolds beautifully chapter by chapter. He describes many historical events and historical characters. You will meet real historical characters like Nadir Shah and Taimur looted and destroyed Delhi. You will meet Aurangzeb who ruled Delhi. You will also Meer Taqi Meer and Bahadur Shah Zafar. There are some fictitious characters like Musaddi Lal Kayasth , a Hindu convert working under the hostile Ghiyas ud din Balban in the fourteenth century. The book covers history of Mughals right from dawn of the Mughal Empire to the sunset of the Mughal Empire. The novel ends with the terrorized narrator watching his Sikh neighbors mercilessly burnt alive by people angered due to the killing of Indira Gandhi by her Sikh guards.

Although it is clear to see the author’s love for Delhi, but he also narrated very dark bleak side of Delhi. Delhi always been suffered in the hands of people who lusted for dominance and it still goes on and will go on.

Anuja Chauhan had very long and celebrated career in JWT advertising agency. She worked with some biggest brands in India like Pepsi, Nokia, Kurkure and others. She has worked on some very famous advertising lines such as "Yeh dil mange more", "Mera number kab ayega," "Nothing official about it," and "Oye bubbly." With “The Zoya Factor” she became a novelist. This is her first novel which was published in 2008. Her second book “Battle for Bittora” was published in 2010.

Protagonist of this book is Zoya Solanki, who is a 27 year old advertising professional. And the male protagonist is Nikhil Khoda who is Indian cricket team captain. And no prize for guessing that he is characterized on Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The author didn’t make any effort avoiding any resemblance to Dhoni. When you read the description, you can only imagine and him only. Now the story is based on a superstition of the Indian cricket team that, Zoya Solanki is a lucky charm for them! So much so that, they never lose a single match when they have breakfast with her and the one whom she kisses emerges as the Man of the Match!! And reasoning for this is that Zoya was born at the exact moment that India won the World Cup in 1983. Even Indian cricket board appoints her to travel with Indian cricket team to Australia for World Cup.

Yes, this is little hard to digest; but once you do that it is very entertaining and romantic novel to read. I read in newspaper some days back that Shahrukh Khan bought rights to make a movie based on this book. So we will see “The Zoya Factor” on screen very soon. I am eager to know the casting of the movie.

If I have to rate this movie I will give it 7 out of 10.

God of Crime fiction Mario Puzo’s seventh novel, sequel to “The Godfather” is “The Last Don”. Although it is all familiar, yet it is all new and interestingly exciting. As usual the book has crime, Sicilian vengeance, but he also added in detailed the world of gambling, the famous casinos of Las Vegas and movie business of Hollywood comes alive in this book.

This book is a story of Clericuzio Family, who operates from Long Isaland. Chief of the family is Domenico Clericuzio who rules the Mafia for over 30 years. But now he wants to make his family and their businesses legitimate. He wants to fade away in the normal society. So he plants his sons, nephews and grandsons into legitimate business like restaurants, construction companies, and legalized gambling. Of course he does this with his illicit mafia power. But the Sicilian vengeance comes back to haunt him and on the verge of ruining his plans and efforts to submerge in society. The remaining family member of Santadio Family which was wiped out by Clericuzio Family one bloody evening in the past now stands between Clericuzio family’s futures.  

As usual Mario Puzo developed some amazing characters and amazing interaction between them. You will hardly find any dull moments in the book. Although it gets little of the track in between and after reading his earlier novels you feel most of the passages of the book repetitive.

If I have to rate this book I will give it 7out of 10. I think if you haven’t read or watched ‘The Godfather’ earlier then this book can be lot more enjoyable. Worth reading it never the less.

‘Twilight’ is a first book of Twilight series. There are four books in this series by Stephenie Meyer. It is not only bestselling book and book series but also very successful on screen. Till now first three books are adapted into movies and which turned out to be huge grosser on box office. First movie was released in 2008 and last in 2010. So although I saw all these movies I could not stop myself from picking up this book and I think this book is lot better than the film adaption.
This book is actually introduction of all the characters. Author is just warming you up for the real action which is coming in the following novels. But still the book is interesting and entertaining on its own. In this book we will be introduced to seventeen-year-old Isabella "Bella" Swan, who moves from Phoenix, Arizona to Forks, Washington with her father Charlie. In new school she finds her love Edward Cullen who is a vampire. So this book is about their impossible relationship as although Edward loves Bella, he also can not resist the thirst for her blood.

Author handled romantic feelings of a teenager girl. The way she unraveled the Mystery around the Edward was also brilliant. But the climax of the book was the best when some other vampire wants Bella’s blood. And Edward and his Vampire family save Bella from him in a thrilling climax. Her style of writing is simple and uncomplicated. So I am very eager to read her next novels in this series which are ‘NEW MOON’, ‘ECLIPSE’, and ‘BREAKING DAWN’.

I think this is Must Read Books for everyone. If I have to rate this book I will give it 8 out of 10.
